Probationary Explorers

The probationary phase lasts approximately 17 weeks, divided into four phases. During this time, Probationary Explorers experience what it’s like to join a law enforcement agency. Each phase is led by an Explorer Field Training Officer to provide instruction, and to guide Probationary Explorers through the process.

Probationary Explorers are provided uniforms, including a polo, a DriFit shirt, a ball cap, BDU pants, a duty belt and various duty accessories.

Probationary Explorer are expected to provide their own military-style boots, a flashlight and pens/notepads.

After successfully completing the probationary phase, members are eligible to participate in competition teams, honor guard, the ride-along program, training conferences and more!
